Installing New Gable Vents to Keep Wildlife & Pests Out in Brick, NJ
Previously, this customer in Brick, NJ had bats in her attic. They were able to get into that area by squeezing through the gable vents. After installing our retrieval devices, we safely removed all the bats from the property.
After removing all the bat guano out of the attic and disinfecting the area, we removed the old gable vents (since they were damaged) and replaced them with a louvered vent guard. A louvered vent guard is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel, which means it won't rust, and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes! The best part is that it properly secures the gable vents from any future intrusions from bats, birds, pests, and all nuisance wildlife!
Groundhogs Digging Around the Shed & Harboring Underneath It in Allenwood, NJ
After her daughter spotted a groundhog running across the yard and then going underneath the shed, this homeowner in Allenwood, NJ, called our Nuisance Wildlife Division for help. In order to safely retrieve the groundhog, we installed Dig Defense® around the entire perimeter of the shed except for one area, which was the main burrow. Dig Defense® is a below-ground fence system that is 15 inches deep, 4 feet across, and protects structures against invasive nuisance wildlife and feral animals.
Afterward, we installed a positive set over the main burrow. A positive set is comprised of a nose cone that is attached to a two-gaited, heavy-duty device. It's called a positive set, because we are positive that the groundhog will enter our device. Once we safely retrieve the groundhog, we will relocate it to a new, humane location, fill in the burrow, and install another portion of Dig Defense® over the main burrow.
A Nasty & Dirty Crawl Space Gets Encapsulated in Allenwood, NJ
This homeowners crawl space in Allenwood, NJ, was in bad shape. The insulation was falling down (due to moisture) and the humidity levels were incredibly high! Fortunately, there was no signs of mold or mildew. So the first thing we did was remove all the contaminated insulation and level the ground for proper drainage. Next, we installed a drainage matting, which is a dimpled plastic mat that allows all excess moisture to work its way over to the sum pump.
After that was done, we installed a vapor barrier. A vapor barrier is a heavy-duty, 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with a polyester-cord reinforcement. The vapor barrier is also extremely durable and is treated with an antimicrobial to prevent mold. Afterward, we installed SilverGlo™ on the walls of the crawl space. SilverGlo™ is a waterproof foam insulation that seals the walls from outside moisture and humidity.
Next, we installed new ComfortTherm® insulation throughout the crawl space. ComfortTherm® insulation provides excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates. Lastly, to control the humidity levels in the crawl space, we installed a Sedona dehumidifier. This is a powerful, energy-efficient, commercial-grade dehumidifier that outperforms standard household dehumidifiers by as much as 10 times while using the same amount of energy to run! Now the homeowners have a clean and healthy crawl space as well as an additional area in their home for storage.
Raccoons Break Into Home Through the Gable Vent in Barnegat Light, NJ
An raccoon decided that the attic of this home Barnegat Light, NJ was a great spot to reside in, so it ripped apart the gable vent and made it's way inside! The homeowner wasn't exactly to fond of this idea and called Little Rascals for help. Nuisance wildlife infesting a home via the gable vents is very common. Over time, the gable vents get weathered and raccoons, squirrels, birds, and bats have no problem ripping away these vents to find shelter inside a home.
To safely remove the raccoon, we installed a one-way over the gable vent, temporarily enclosed the area with hardware cloth, and set-up several baited devices nearby. A one-way is a device that allows raccoons to safely leave an area, but prevent them from getting back in. A short while later, we successfully retrieved the raccoon and relocated the it to a new, humane location. Afterward, we disinfected the attic area, removed the broken gable vent and replaced it with a louvered vent guard. This material is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel (which means it won't rust) and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes. Now the home is properly protected from not just raccoons, but all nuisance wildlife and pests!
Why Eagle Eye is a Safe Deterrent for Birds in Manasquan, NJ
This customer in Manasquan, NJ, was suffering from nuisance birds constantly defecating on his roof and damaging it. After several DIY attempts had failed, he realized that he needed a professional, so he called our Bird Solutions Division for help. A major problem with nuisance birds roosting on your home is their prodigious waste. Their thick white glue-like droppings are filled with pathogens and are a nightmare to clean. Their waste can cause property damage and it's acidic enough to disintegrate roofing materials and cause roof leaks!
We determined that the safest and effective method to deter the birds from the roof was to install and secure an Eagle Eye bird deterrent onto the roof. This highly effective optical bird “scarer” can be attached to the peak of a roof or anywhere else that nuisance birds are landing and congregating. As the wind catches the device, it spins and emits an annoying large glare that distracts nuisance birds and limits their vision. The reflected light beams are so uncomfortable that the nuisance birds will divert their flight and head away from the property. Now the nuisance birds problem will be completely eliminated as the birds seek out more hospitable locations where they are not bothered by a blinding light every time they attempt to land!
