Raccoons Destroyed the Fascia, We Repair It in Manasquan, NJ
A raccoon had caused quite a bit of damage to this home in Manasquan, NJ. When the raccoon had entered the home, it tore apart the owners entire fascia! Fortunately, we were able to successfully and safely retrieve the raccoon and relocate it to a new, humane location. Now all that's left is to repair the fascia!
First, we removed the damaged wooden fascia and replaced it with pressure treated wood. Next, we installed sturdy metal flashing over the entire length of the fascia. This will exclude raccoons, as well other nuisance wildlife and nuisance birds, from infesting the home.
Hidden in the Bush is a Large Bald-Faced Hornet Nest in Seaside Park, NJ
During regularly scheduled treatment service for a new Commercial Protection Plan customer in Seaside Park, NJ, we discovered something interesting in the bushes near the employee parking lot - a soccer ball sized bald-faced hornets nest! We spoke to the owner and he, nor his staff, had no idea that these aggressive and ill-tempered stinging insects were there! This is why we always conduct a full inspection of a home or business!
For treatment, we injected a knockdown aerosol product into the bald-faced hornets nest. After several moments had passed, we then liberally treated the nest with a knockdown liquid application. Both of these treatments neutralize the bald-faced hornets within minutes. After some time had passed, we removed the nest, and the branch it was attached to, and disposed of them both properly.
Squirrels Ruin the Porch Overhang, We Fix It in Brielle, NJ
This customer in Brielle, NJ, had an infestation of squirrels in her attic. They were able to infest the home by ripping apart an area by the porch overhang and squeezing through a small gap. In order to safely retrieve the squirrels, we temporarily sealed off the access points on both sides of the porch overhang with hardware cloth, left one area exposed, and installed a one-way device over that area. We also installed several baited devices nearby. A one-way device is designed to allow the squirrel to safely leave the area but prevent it from getting back in. A short while later, we successfully retrieved all the squirrels and relocated them to a new, humane environment.
Now it's time to prevent them from getting back in! To accomplish that, we fashioned a piece of sturdy metal flashing and installed it over each one of the porch overhangs! Now the areas are properly protected from squirrels, birds, bats, and any other nuisance wildlife.
Starlings Squeezing Through Gap to Infest Home in Brielle, NJ
One day, this homeowner in Brielle, NJ was sitting outside on his driveway, when he noticed several starlings going in and out of a small opening on his property! Since his neighbor had used Cowleys for a similar situation, he got our number from his neighbor, and called us for help.
Once we arrived, we fully inspected the exterior and interior of his home and determined that this was the only access point that the starlings were using to infest his property. First, we carefully removed all of the nesting debris and then disinfected the area with a solution that targets and exterminates bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal and will make their way into a home to feast on your pets and your family. Bird mites are the main reason why extreme care is needed when removing a nest.
After disinfecting the area, we installed Pest-Blok over that access point to prevent any future intrusions from any other nuisance birds or wildlife. Pest-Blok doesn't restrict the airflow to the area, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the area against all nuisance wildlife.
Live Yellow Jacket Nest Found in the Basement in Brielle, NJ
As this homeowner in Brielle, NJ was organizing his basement, he heard a buzzing noise coming from the corner. As he went to investigate, he was suddenly attacked by a number of angry yellow jackets! Since his daughter is highly allergic to bee stings, he and his family left his home and called Cowleys for help.
After equipping our protective bee suit, we investigated the area where the homeowner was attacked and uncovered a rather large yellow jackets nest tucked away underneath a piece of fiberglass insulation. For treatment, we injected a knockdown aerosol application into the nest. Several moments later, we injected a knockdown dusting application. These treatments will quickly neutralize the yellow jackets.
Some time after treating the yellow jackets, we removed the nest and, with the owner's permission, the insulation that was attached to the nest, and disposed of them both properly.
