Pests We Treat - Bees in a Commercial Building in Cliffside Park, NJ
One of my commercial properties had been having a bee issue in some of the units on several floors on the west side of the building. The building exterior is brick and over time gaps and cracks in the cement and around the windows have appeared. The sun hits this side of the building and heats up the brick face creating a perfect Harborage area for bees.
Power lines close to the building limited my access for proper inspection and treatment. The only way to safely inspect and treat was by use of a boom lift. The property management company contacted me to let me know they would have a boom lift on sight and coordinated with my office to be available when the lift was going to be on the property.
Visual inspection of all the aligned units led me to the fourth floor window seen in the video. You can see the bees in disarray after I applied a residual tracking powder to the entry point of the nest. The bees inside the nest were affected and the bees returning to the nest sensed something was wrong but would enter the void, exposing them to the dust and quickly perishing. The property manager has a contractor sealing up any gaps or cracks around the windows to prevent insects and any moisture from entering the structure.
