Pests We Treat - Ant Control in Little Silver, NJ
Today I was called out to a customer in Little Silver, NJ who was dealing with small ants crawling around her kitchen. Beginning my inspection, I found a trail of ants crawling along the back splash on the kitchen countertop. They continued their trek down the side of the cabinet, and finally disappeared from sight behind the molding on the floor. I then moved my inspection outside to determine where ants were going after disappearing behind the molding. After a few seconds, I noticed ants emerging from a crack in the foundation and entering the soil. Foraging ants always return back to the colony carrying food for others.
I showed the homeowner the ant trail I had found, and explained how the “inside and out" ant treatment using a non-repellent class of chemicals takes advantage of the ants’ social behavior to knock out the colony. Simply killing the visible foraging ants does nothing to resolve an any infestation. With this treatment, the foraging ants unknowingly transfer the chemical to the other ants in the Colony, killing the entire colony. After performing this treatment, the customer thanked me for educating her about why over-the-counter ant sprays are ineffective and quickly getting rid of her ant infestation in the kitchen.
