Bald-Faced Hornets Nesting on the Window in Tinton Falls, NJ
This property manager of a condo association in Tinton Falls, NJ called our office after her maintenance team found an active hornets' nest on the window of a vacant unit. Once we arrived a took a closer look at the nest, after equipping our protective bee suits, we identified them as bald-faced hornets.
Bald-faced hornets are social stinging insects that are a close relative to yellow jackets. The surface of their upper midsection almost looks triangular from the side, and they have white markings on their face. They are EXTREMELY aggressive and will not hesitate to sting anything that invades their space. What makes them even scarier is they have smooth stingers, which means they can sting over and over again, can actually sense vibrations in the air, and remember their invader's face!
We treated the nest with a knockdown aerosol and a knockdown liquid application. Both products exterminate the bald-faced hornets almost immediately. A short while later, we removed the nest, properly disposed of it, and cleaned the area.
Squirrels Chewing Their Way Into Home in Tinton Falls, NJ
After spotting a squirrel coming out of his property, this customer in Tinton Falls, NJ immediately called Little Rascals for help and we were sent out. As soon as we inspected the home, we immediately spotted their access point - a chewed out opening in the soffit! So we installed a one-way device over the access point, temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth, and then set-up several baited devices nearby.
A one-way device allows the squirrels to safely leave an area but prevent them from getting back in. Not long after setting up our devices we safely retrieved all of the squirrels and took them to a new humane location. After that we then installed Pest-Blok over the damaged area of the soffit. Pest-Blok is a sturdy material that undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process, which makes it last longer. Additionally, it doesn't restrict the airflow to the attic & guards the home against squirrels, birds, and other nuisance wildlife.
Open Dryer Vent is an Invitation for Squirrel in Tinton Falls, NJ
This homeowner in Tinton Falls, NJ had a unique problem. A squirrel was getting into his home by squeezing through one of his exposed dryer vents on the outside of his property! In order to safely retrieve the squirrel we installed a one-way device over the dryer vent, temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth, and set up a number of baited devices nearby. A one-way device is a device that will allow the squirrel to leave the area safely, but prevent it from getting back in. A short while after setting up our devices, we had successfully retrieved the squirrel!
We took the squirrel to a new, humane location and installed a DryerWallVent® over the dryer vent. The DryerWallVent® is made out of heavy-duty galvanized steel and its large opening and angled damper provide maximum airflow efficiency for safe venting. Integrated magnets keep the damper closed when not in use, preventing squirrels, bats, birds, and all nuisance wildlife from infesting the home.
Excluding Raccoons from the Soffit-Return in Wall Township, NJ
A couple of raccoons had decided that the attic of this home in Wall Township, NJ, was a great place to reside in, so they did just that and the homeowner wasn't exactly a fan of that idea. So he called Little Rascals for help and we were sent out to safely remove and exclude them.
Since the raccoons were entering the attic via the soffit-return, we installed a positive set over that area. This is comprised of a nose cone, which will guide the raccoons into a two-gaited, heavy-duty device that is attached to it. This is called a positive set, because we are positive that the raccoons will have no other way to exit except through our device! We also placed several baited devices nearby. A short while later, we successfully & safely retrieved the raccoons and relocated them to a new, humane environment.
We then went back to our trucks, fashioned a piece of sturdy metal flashing, and installed it over the soffit-return. We also disinfected the attic and installed a sturdy attic fan cover over the attic fan. The attic fan cover is made of heavy-duty 18 Gauge expanded Galvannealed steel mesh and will prevent raccoons, as well as all nuisance wildlife, from gaining access into the home via the attic fan.
From Poor Insulation to Blown-In Cellulose Insulation in Sea Girt, NJ
A new client in Sea Girt, NJ, wanted Cowleys to add blown-in cellulose insulation to his attic. First, we removed all the old insulation and debris, disposed of them, and cleaned the area.
