Birds & Bats Getting Through the Fascia in Neshanic Station, NJ

This homeowner in Neshanic Station, NJ had a problem with both nuisance birds and bats roosting in her attic. How where they getting in exactly? The fascia board had rotted and was falling apart.

First, we safely removed all the bird nesting debris and the bat guano in the attic. Afterward, we disinfected the entire attic with a solution that targets bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal. They will make their way into a home, and once inside they will take over, climbing all over your walls, ceilings, and beddings. To make matters worse, bird mites are tiny and semi-transparent, so they are extremely difficult to detect.  Bird mites are the main reason why extreme care is needed when removing a nest. The last thing you want to do is disrupt the mites that are crawling in and around the nesting material.

Lastly, to prevent any future wildlife intrusions, we installed sturdy, metal flashing over the entire fascia board.

Groundhogs Were Getting Under the Shed in Trenton, NJ

This customer in Trenton, NJ had a big problem. A groundhog was moving across her yard, eating her vegetables, and then hiding underneath the shed! Fed up, the owner called Little Rascals and we were sent out.

We located the groundhogs burrow, installed a positive set over it, and temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth. A positive set is a retrieval device that's comprised of a nose cone which is attached to a two-gaited, heavy-duty device. The nose cone safely guides the groundhog into the heavy-duty device. We call it a positive set, because we are positive that the groundhog will enter the device. Sure enough, it did and we transported the groundhog to a humane location.

To prevent any other nuisance wildlife from harboring underneath the shed, we installed Dig Defense®. Dig Defense® is a below-ground fence system that is 15 inches deep, 4 feet across, and prevents nuisance wildlife from digging and infiltrating underneath an area.

Closing Up All the Access Point for Birds in Lawrenceville, NJ

This business in Lawrenceville, NJ had a large infestation of birds in the building. There were able to get in via several openings around the building. Apparently, the business owner had recently renovated the property and removed several utility pipes and exhaust vents. The only problem was that he forgot to seal them up! So the birds took full advantage and resided in these areas.

For treatment, we carefully removed all the nesting debris and then properly disinfected every single harborage point. Next, we placed sturdy metal flashing over all the holes in the building and painted them to blend in with the color of the exterior.

Stopping Future Raccoons from Infesting the Attic in Montgomery, NJ

This customer in Montgomery, NJ frantically called Little Rascals after spotting a raccoon entering his home through the gable vent! Once we arrived, we installed a one-way device over the main access point and enclosed the area, temporarily, with hardware cloth. The one way device is designed to allow the raccoon to leave the area, but prevent it from returning the same way. We also installed several baited devices nearby.

A short while later, we safely retrieved the raccoon! We relocated it to a new, humane environment and then focused our attention to the gable vent. Other raccoons, and nuisance wildlife, can still enter the home via the gable vent and cause some serious damage to the attic. To prevent this, we installed a louvered vent guard. The louvered vent guard is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel (which means it won't rust) and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes. Now the gable vent is properly protected from raccoons and all other nuisance wildlife!

Yellow Jackets Nest in the Ground Behind the Shed in Montgomery, NJ

After getting attacked and stung by several yellow jackets, this homeowner in Montgomery, NJ called Cowleys for help and we were sent out.

When we arrived and spoke to the owner, he had mentioned that he was attacked by his shed, so that's where we began inspecting. Minutes into our investigation, we located a small in-ground yellow jackets nest right next to an old piece of wood behind the shed.

For treatment, we injected a knockdown dusting application directly into the in-ground nest. This will quickly neutralize the yellow jackets. A short while later, we removed the nest and the piece of wood next to the nest (in order to not attract termites to the area), disposed of them, and filled in the burrow.
