Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Squirrels Go Nutty in Homeowners Attic in Neptune, NJ
A new residential client in Neptune, NJ called Cowleys after hearing noises in her attic during the day. We inspected the attic first to determine what type of wildlife we were dealing with.
Found Some Presents in the Attic
As soon as we began inspecting I we immediately saw squirrel droppings and nesting in the attic. Squirrel droppings are oblong shaped and are usually about 3/8 inch long and 1/8 inch in diameter. Fresh ones are dark brown in color.
Health Hazards of Squirrel Poop
There are a number of diseases that can be transmitted through squirrel poop, the biggest is leptospirosis. Leptospirosis is a bacterial condition that can lead to serious respiratory problems or even death.
Found Their Entrance
We continued our inspection to the rooftop to find their point of entry. We spotted a gap under the back dormer behind the house. This is where the squirrels were getting into the attic.
Our Extensive Set-Up
We put a one-way device in front of the opening and placed three baited traps near it. A one-way device allows the squirrels to safely leave the attic, but prevent them from re-entering. Once all the squirrels have been removed, we sanitized the attic and sealed up the back dormer.
