Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Rotted fascia leads to wildlife break-in in Sea Girt

I was called in to assist another Cowleys technician who was in the process of doing wildlife exclusion work on a roof for a homeowner in Sea Girt and needed a helping hand. Wildlife exclusion involves any type of repair involved in sealing a potential entry point where wildlife could enter. We often do exclusion work in and around the roof, and one of the most problematic exterior part of a home for wildlife intrusions are soffits and facia boards that are weakened from water damage. The fascia board on a house is the vertical finishing edge that caps the end of the rafters, and is often where the home’s gutters are attached while the soffit is the finished wood or vinyl horizontal underside beneath the overhanging section of the roof eave. Once these building materials become water-damaged and start to rot, they become prime areas for wildlife entry. Raccoons, squirrels, and other wildlife can easily tear through these weakened materials in order to access the attic.
