The raccoon made himself at home, building his own private entranceway by ripping apart the dried, old attic vent louvers with his powerful, sharp claws. Since this was an active infestation, it was important to resolve this infestation quickly before there was any significant property damage to the home. Raccoons will shred through insulation, chew and scratch wood, and leave their filthy disease-carrying waste on everything. Also, raccoons are the major rabies vector in New Jersey. Although we think of raccoons as "cute" with their burglar-mask faces, they are actually aggressive, territorial animals, especially a mom perceiving someone as a threat to her babies.
