Pests We Treat - Carpenter Ants Swarm a Home in Farmingdale, NJ
A homeowner in Farmingdale, NJ contacted Cowleys terrified that she had termites in her house. When we inspected we determined that she didn’t termites, but another wood destroying insect — carpenter ant swarmers. Often confused with termites, carpenter ants don’t eat wood but tunnel through it to build nests causing significant property damage. They nest in both moist and dry wood but prefer wood which is moist. Their nests are more likely to be found in wood dampened by water leaks, such as around sinks, bathtubs, poorly sealed windows/ door frames, roof leaks and poorly flashed chimneys.
