Pests We Treat - Clover Mites Take Over Bait Station in Marlboro, NJ

Recently, I serviced a home in Marlboro, NJ for a mouse infestation. With any rodent problem, we always return for follow-up visits so that we can re-inspect the premises, perform additional treatments if necessary, and replenish the bait in the bait stations as needed. The amount of bait consumed between service calls is a reliable indicator of the level of infestation. 

As I was inspecting the rodent bait stations that were placed along the exterior perimeter of the building, I came across one station that was currently occupied by a colony of reddish, tiny insects. A closer inspection told me that these were clover mites. Clover mites are plant feeders that are dark reddish brown in color. They don’t pose a threat to human health or cause major damage to homes, but they can be a severe nuisance when they invade structures.  

Fortunately, after inspecting the entire property, we caught the clover mites in their early infestation stages. First, I replaced this rodent bait station with another station that was free of pests. Next, I applied a light liquid application along the entire exterior of the property, along the bottom of the lower windows, and along approximately 10' of the grass areas leading out from the house. This treatment will knock out these pesky insects in no time at all.
