Pests We Treat - Bed bugs in Freehold can't hide from us - Bed bug removal & control in Freehold, NJ
I was dispatched to perform a bed bug inspection inside a unit of a Freehold, NJ apartment complex. The tenant contacted the property manager after suspecting that he may have bed bugs because, over the course of a few consecutive days, he had woken up in his bed with several unexplained bites over his body.
Bed bugs can be found in many locations, but these parasites particularly like to nest in and around mattresses. While sleeping at night, we are easy prey for their next blood meal. So, my first step was to inspect his bed. I slowly pulled off the sheets to not disturb any nesting bed bugs. I placed the sheets in a large plastic bag and advised the customer to wash them in hot water and dry them in high heat to “fry” any potential eggs stuck to the sheets. With the bed stripped, I lifted up the mattress to inspect the seams. Because bed bugs look for the smallest nooks and crannies to hide, they naturally gravitate toward mattress seams. Eureka! There they were in all of their disgusting glory: Bed Bugs, bed bug casings, eggs (not to mention fecal and blood stains, yuk!).
I knew what had to be done. First, I would use a high-powered vacuum over every square inch of the mattress and box spring to suck up bed bugs, their eggs, and everything else into oblivion. Then I would follow up with a chemical application to eliminate whatever may be remaining. Once completed, I’ll install mattress and box spring encasements to seal everything inside and not allow any more bed bugs to enter. Once all this is done, there will be no more bed bud activity on the mattress and box spring. But that’s not the end. Any dark cracks and crevices within a 2 to 3 foot radius of the bed are prime bed bug locations and need to be uncovered and treated. All the contents of his surrounding night stands would have to be removed and placed in plastic bags so I could flip them over and treat the hidden undersides.
I will be beginning treatment immediately to give this tenant some well-deserved peace of mind. The lives of these bed bugs and their offspring are about to come to a premature end. They just don’t know it yet. I love destroying these disgusting insects. To me, there is nothing worse than a bug that hides during the day and comes out at night to feed off our blood. I enjoy my job as a modern-day vampire killer!
