Pests We Treat Photo Album: Recyclable Cans Filled with Pavement Ants in Somerville, NJ
This is a surefire way to get an ant infestation in your home!
A Large Infestation
When we inspected the detached garage, we found a massive infestation of pavement ants!
What are Pavement Ants
Pavement ants are about 1/8 of an inch long and are dark brown to black in color. Their name comes from nesting under sidewalks and driveways and piling dirt removed from the nest in a mound on top of the pavement, often located between sidewalk cracks.
That's Why!
The homeowner had several recyclable cans that were full. This is what was attracting the pavement ants to the area.
Treatment for Ants
We removed all of the garbage and cleaned out the receptacle cans. Next, we treated the area with a liquid residual and applied an ant gel bait.
Transfer Effect
Once the worker ants come in contact with either of these products, they will return to their nest and transfer the treatments throughout their colony. Shortly after, the pavement ants are eliminated. We advised the homeowner to keep all trash and recyclable cans outside of the home, to which he agreed.
