I opened up the RTU bait station and was greeted by a black widow spider and her giant egg sac!
Facts About the Black Widow
Black widows are black in color with two reddish triangular markings that look like an hourglass. Their venom is 15 times stronger than a rattlesnake's and can cause muscle aches, nausea, and breathing difficulties.
Lots of Creepy Crawlers Inside
Black widow eggs sacs can be recognized for their grey and spherical appearance, and are generally around 9 mm in diameter. Each egg sac contains an average of 255 eggs inside!
Treatment
I'm going to apply a knockdown flushing agent directly to the black widow and her egg sac, which will quickly eliminate both of them. As a precaution, I applied a residual non-repellant around the perimeter of the home to protect the property from any type of pest intrusions.
