Pests We Treat Photo Album: Run Around Carpenter Ants in Monmouth Beach, NJ
I was sent out on a service call for a homeowner in Monmouth Beach, NJ who called our office after spotting some carpenter ants in his bedroom.
After Finding the Carpenter Ants
After finding the carpenter ants in the bedroom, I inspected the exterior of the home to locate their nest. Within minutes, I found a carpenter ant trail leading from high up in a tree at the rear of the home, down the trunk, across the ground and up under the corner of the house leading to the bedroom.
Carpenter Ants Inflict Serious Damage
Carpenter ants do not actually eat the wood. They hollow it out in order to nest inside and, over a period of time, cause significant structural damage.
Extensive Treatment
I treated the bottom corner of the house, the trail across the ground and the trunk of the tree with a liquid residual. Any ants traveling from the trunk to the ground would have to pass through the application.
Baiting the Ants
I also applied ant gel bait, that the carpenter ants will consume, to the base of the tree and under the corner of the house.
Transfer the Treatments
The carpenter ants will come in contact with either of these treatments and transfer it among the colony. Soon, the entire colony is eliminated.
