Pests We Treat Photo Album: Exterminators in Rumson, NJ
During a routine service for one of our Home Protection Plan clients in Rumson, NJ I came across some pesky ants in the living room.
Hey There Little Fella
During my service I spotted a few ants crawling on the wooden trim. I took a closer look and identified them as odorous house ants.
Odorous Hous-What?
Odorous house ants are tiny brown ants, about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch in size, are also called sugar ants. Why the long and silly name? That's because once the ants are crushed they give off a rotten, coconut smell.
Time for Treatment
After finding their main colony, which was located in a shrub on the exterior of the home, I began treatment. First, I applied an ant gel bait in the corners of the living room and the kitchen and then used a aerosol application.
For the Exterior
After treating the inside, I applied a granular bait and a liquid residual along the entire exterior.
The Transfer Effect
The ants come in contact with these treatments, bring it back to their nest and share it with the colony and the queen (either through grooming or feeding). This is known as the Transfer Effect. Soon, the entire colony will be eliminated.
