Pests We Treat Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets Drink Straight from the Hose in Brielle, NJ
A homeowner in Brielle, NJ contacted our office after finding a large hornet's nest on the garden hose in his backyard.
Pretty Easy to Find
I equipped my protective bee suit and began inspecting the backyard. It didn't take long to find the hornet's nest.
They Were Bald-Faced Hornets
As I got closer to examine the nest several bald-faced hornets emerged, ready to defend their nest. Bald-faced hornets are related to yellowjackets and share their aggressive temper and territorial behavior. Their stings carry venom that makes the stings hurt, itch and swell for about 24 hours.
Multiple Treatment Options
Using my extendable pole I applied an aerosol application directly into the entranceway of the nest. This application eliminates the hornets almost immediately. Due to the large size of the nest, I also applied a dusting application to the area.
Taken Down
After a few moments, I used a scraper to remove the nest and then I properly disposed of it. I then returned, cleaned up, and applied a liquid residual to the area. This application will prevent any additional bald-faced hornets from nesting in the area.
