Before I rang the customer's doorbell, I immediately saw the bald-faced hornets nest. They were already starting fly around their nest as I approached.
Bald-Faced Hornets Can Be Scary
Bald-faced hornets are extremely territorial of their colony and will defend and repeatedly sting anything that comes within four feet of their nests. The fact that the nest was so close to the front door and that the homeowner is highly allergic to hornets made this case a rather dangerous one.
Our Treatment
I explained to the homeowner that I would be using an aerosol product that would neutralize the hornets on contact. I approached the nest and placed the tip of the straw into the opening and began releasing the aerosol.
Now the Last Step
The aerosol quickly spread and almost immediately eliminated all the hornets on contact. After five minutes I knocked the nest down and properly disposed of it. The hornets are no longer a threat and these wonderful clients can now use their front door again.
