Pests We Treat Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets Hide in Avon by the Sea, NJ
This homeowner in Avon By The Sea, NJ was having an issue with hornets circling around his walkway by his front door. As I began inspecting the walkway, I found something interesting.
Blending in
As I began inspecting the walkway by the front door, I noticed a nest in the shrubs. As I took a closer look, I determined that it was a bald-faced hornet's nest!
Perfect Location
Bald-faced hornets build paper carton nests in the area of the queen's choosing, usually in trees, shrubs, and on overhangs. These nests can be as large as 14 inches in diameter and more than 24 inches in length. This one was a little bigger than a baseball.
Active and Dangerous
This nest was active and filled with dangerous bald-faced hornets, so extreme is needed.
Quick Knock
Using my B-pole, I applied a residual product directly to the nest. This application is designed to quickly knock down the bald-faced hornets. Once it was safe, I carefully removed the nest.
