Pests We Treat Photo Album: Termite Snacking in Pizzeria in Brielle, NJ
Recently, I went out on a service call to one of our commercials client, a pizzeria in Brielle, NJ. The owner was having an issue with termites in his dining area.
Locating the Entry Point
After thoroughly inspecting the exterior of the property, I located a tiny crack in the side of the building where the termites were gaining access into the restaurant. Termites can fit through a crack as thin as 1/32nd of an inch, so this tiny crack was no issue for them to squeeze through.
Let's Get Drilling
Termites live beneath the soil and enter your home below the ground level of the dirt. For an effective treatment, I must drill into the concrete and inject a liquid application into the ground so that the termites will come into contact with the product.
Drill the Holes At Least 15-18 Inches Apart
When drilling, it's imperative that I space the holes at least 15-18 inches apart. This ensures that the liquid application has room to spread out and increases the chance that the termites will walk through the application.
Injecting the Application
Once I finished the drilling, I injected a liquid application into the slab. This application binds to the treated soil and creates a protective zone that the termites cannot detect. Termites will come in contact with this treatment as they go about their normal routines.
Spread Like a Virus
Once the termites come in contact with the application, they'll transfer it to other termites in the colony. The application will then spread like a virus throughout the colony and in a short amount of time, the termites are gone!
Don't Forget the Back
There was a small patch of soil in the rear of the building that needed treatment. I injected the application into the soil against the foundation. As a result of a thorough treatment, the building will be termite-free and protected for many years to come.
