Gap in the Basement Allows Mice to Infest Home in East Brunswick, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in East Brunswick, NJ called Cowleys after finding an abundance of mice droppings in his basement. During our inspection of the basement we discovered a large gap in the corner of the basement ceiling. We took a closer look and found mice hair in the opening. We also noticed that one of the utility pipes lead upstairs to the kitchen, so we inspected that area. That's when we found more mice droppings behind the stove. Turns out, there was a wide gap around the gas line that the mice were using to infest the home. We also found another gap around a utility pipe behind the fridge. We told the owner about the hole in his basement ceiling and he mentioned that he will contact a professional to repair it.
Solution
First, we carefully vacuumed up all the mice droppings throughout the home. Next, we installed several Ready-to-Use rodent bait stations in the basement, behind the stove and fridge, in the kitchen, and along the exterior of the home. Lastly, we scheduled several follow up visits to replenish the bait stations and monitor the infestation.
On our next follow up visit we will stuff all the openings with stainless steel mesh and then seal them with a waterproof adhesive.
