A Hole in the Garage Causes Mice to Infest the Home in Rumson, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Rumson, NJ contacted Cowleys after her daughter saw a mice in her laundry room! As we inspected the laundry room, we did find several mouse droppings in the area, but there was something else that caught our eye. Around one of the utility pipes was a large gap. Turns out, it lead into the garage and when we inspected the area, we found a ton of mice droppings and nesting debris. The mice were entering a small gap under the garage door to infest the garage and then were using that gap around the utility pipe to infest the home!
Solution
First, with the owners permission, we disposed of every single contaminated item and carefully cleaned up the mice droppings in the garage and inside the home. Afterward, we installed a rodent bait station in the garage, the laundry room, the two adjacent rooms, and along the exterior of the home. Next, we installed an Xcluder™ door sweep under the laundry room door that led into the garage and underneath the garage door. The Xcluder™ door sweep is made from a blend of coarse stainless steel and poly fibers to form a highly resilient and impenetrable barrier.
Next, we stuffed that gap around the utility pipe with chew-proof stainless steel mesh and sealed it with a waterproof adhesive. Lastly, we scheduled several follow up visits to monitor the infestation and replenish the bait stations as needed.
