Rats Create Multiple Burrows in Tinton Falls, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Tinton Falls, NJ called Cowleys after noticing a large amount of rodent droppings in her kitchen. Once we arrived and started inspecting the area, we discovered that the droppings were from rats and they were entering the home through two holes in the pipes that were underneath the sink. As we inspected the outside, we found a ton of rat tunnels along the fence. Rats create these burrows to travel from their nest to a food source and to escape predators. Rat burrows usually contain a main entrance and 1 or 2 exit holes away from the main entrance.
Solution
For treatment, we installed Ready to Use rodent bait stations next to several of the rat burrows. Next, we installed several snap traps that are inside temper-proof, child resistant boxes near the burrows. We then went inside, carefully cleaned up the droppings and installed a few interior rodent bait stations in the crawl space. Afterward, we went to the kitchen and stuffed those gaps with chew-proof stainless steel mesh and sealed them with a premium adhesive. Lastly, we scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the rat infestation and replenish the bait stations as needed.
