Cockroaches All Over the Kitchen in Jackson, NJ
Challenge
We were sent out on a service call for a new customer in Jackson, NJ who called our office complaining of cockroaches in her kitchen. When we arrived, we began inspecting the kitchen and noticed very light activity of cockroaches throughout the area. We also found a few cockroaches in the pantries, but nothing major.
It wasn't until we moved the refrigerator from the corner when we found the main infestation. There was a ton of cockroaches and their fecal matter behind the fridge! Upon closer inspection, we identified them as German cockroaches. German cockroach have two dark parallel stripes on their back that starts just behind the head, are about 1/2 inch long, and are light brown to tan in color. They are most often found in kitchens and bathrooms since they prefer a warm, humid environment near their food source.
Solution
After the homeowner removed everything in her cabinets and drawers, we moved everything that we could away from the walls and started treating all cracks and crevices throughout the kitchen and, with the owners permission, the adjacent rooms with our microinjector that contains an EPA registered insect growth regulator that is combined with a residual product. This treatment affects the cockroaches' reproductive system and prevents them from reaching adulthood.
Once we finished treating the home, we scheduled several follow-up visits to apply any additional treatments if needed and to monitor the infestation.
