This customer in South Bound Brook, NJ had a large infestation of ants in her kitchen and had no idea where they were coming from. So she called Cowleys and we were sent out to help. We began our investigation by following their trails, which lead from the sink to several electrical outlets above the kitchen countertop. We removed the covers and found a large colony of ants inside a number of them!
For treatment, we injected a residual dusting application into each one of the electrical outlets and then treated the ant trails on the counter with an ant gel bait. Next, we went outside and treated the landscape with a granular bait and the exterior of the home with a liquid non-repellent. Once the ants come in contact with any of these treatments, they're going to bring them back to their nest and share the applications with the other ants in their colony and their queen. A short while later, the ants will be exterminated.
We're returning to this home in South Bound Brook, NJ to check up on the rodent activity and replenish all of the bait stations. As we went to replenish one of the stations, we discovered a large number of boxelder bugs behind it!
Boxelder bugs are overwintering insects that have reddish-orange markings on their backs. Boxelder bugs are not solitary bugs, in fact, they exist in large, gregarious groups. They hibernate together during the winter and in the spring, or when the temperature outside increases, females that have successfully overwintered, emerge and begin to forage for food.
We treated the area behind the bait station and the entire exterior of the home with a liquid residual application. The boxelder bugs will come in contact with the liquid treatment and, in a short amount of time, they will be exterminated.
After noticing a large amount of bees flying around his deck, this customer in South Bound Brook, NJ called Cowleys for help and we were sent out. As we inspected the area, we came across the bees and informed the customer that these were carpenter bees. Carpenter bees are solitary, wood-destroying pests, and can cause significant property damage, as the female bees drill perfectly circular ½-inch diameter holes into fascia boards, porches, decks, siding, sheds, and other wooden structures. While the female creates a tunnel to nest, the male acts as a sentry protecting the female and nest. Those are the ones that dive bomb at you, but can't really do anything since they have no stinger.
If not treated, carpenter bees will reused the same galleries year after year. This is because carpenter bees leave a pheromone in the areas where they nest. When other carpenter bees are passing by, the pheromone attracts them to the area, and they stop to check it out because they think it's a safe place to live. As long as that pheromone is there, the carpenter bees will continue to come your home year after year!
For treatment, we injected a residual dusting application into each one of the drill holes. This treatment will eliminate the carpenter bees as well as leave behind a residual that will exterminate any returning carpenter bees as well as any newly hatched carpenter bees in the galleries.
After spotting a mouse in her laundry room, this client in South Bound Brook, NJ immediately called our office for help. As we were inspecting the home, we discovered an exposed exhaust vent that had droppings around it. Turns out this was how the mice were getting into the home. We also found another two exposed exhaust vents with mouse droppings around it.
