Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoons Take Up Residency in Vacant Home in Branchburg, NJ

This home in Branchburg, NJ has been vacant for years and raccoons decided to move in.

Overgrown Vegetation

Due to the fact that the home has been vacant for quite some time, the vegetation around the property has overgrown and was too close to the home. The tree branches extending over the roof created a natural bridge for the raccoons.

Gaping Hole in the Soffit

The raccoons then used those "natural bridges" to rip apart the soffit area and a portion of the roof to gain access into the home.

Raccoon Feces

Judging by the buildup of feces on the roof, the raccoons have been present inside the home for a while. We temporarily sealed off the access points with hardware cloth and installed a nose cone that is attached to a Comstock device over it. The nose cone will safely guide the raccoons into the Comstock device.

Comstock Device

The Comstock is a two-gaited, heavy-duty device that features super-strong coil springs that powers the trap door. The door locks into place which prevents the raccoons from escaping.

The Next Step

Once we safely retrieve the raccoons, we will relocate them to a new, humane location and disinfect the attic area.

A Number of Repairs Needed

The owners were aware that the property is in need of a number of repairs, including a new roof. They mentioned that they will begin those repairs once the raccoons are safely evicted from their home.
