Mulch: The Perfect Safe Haven for Ants in Neptune, NJ

A homeowner in Neptune, NJ wanted to spruce up her yard and decided to put down new mulch around her entire property. After only two days of putting down the mulch, her kitchen was infested with pavement ants! 

Pavement ants received their clever name from nesting in pavements, driveways, and sidewalks. They are darkish brown to black in color and are approximately a 1/8 of an inch in size. Although pavement ants aren't a health risk, once they make their way inside a home, they can contaminate food.
