Mulch Attracting Ants in Holmdel, NJ
Although mulch is a great way to give your landscape a clean appearance, unfortunately, as this homeowner in Holmdel, NJ found out, mulch also attracts pavement ants. Pavement ants make their homes in pavements (hence their name) and are approximately 1/8 of an inch long. Large numbers may swarm into buildings built on concrete slabs and the inaccessibility of their nests makes for a challenging infestation removal. The winged pavement ant swarmers are seen in the spring and summer and can be mistaken for termites.
