Bed bugs found in time in apartment in Asbury Park, NJ
Today, two bed bug specialists were dispatched to a beautiful apartment building in Asbury Park, NJ serviced by Cowleys for all of their pest control needs. We were asked to perform a bed bug inspection. At the outset, it should be noted that bed bug infestations have absolutely nothing to do with hygiene or sanitation issues (as is often the case with cockroaches). Rather, bed bugs are external parasites that feed exclusively off of human blood — and they are completely indifferent to the socioeconomic status of the human host. Bed bugs can find their way into the most exclusive living accommodations just as they do anywhere else: They hitchhike on people or their personal belongings and are unknowingly brought into the home. These insects often find new hosts in high-density locations, including public transportation and hotels/motels. Bed bugs can be found anywhere and everywhere. Staying at a five-star hotel will not automatically shield you from bedbug encounter!
The resident of this unit contacted the property manager because she thought that she may have a bed bug infestation, but was unsure how to identify one. Bed bugs like to stay hidden and the signs of bedbug activity are often subtle. Often, the first sign of an infestation is itchy bites that mysteriously appear on one’s arms or legs after waking up in the morning. This resident did the right thing. Even just suspecting a bed bug infestation is more than enough to call in an experienced bed bug specialist to perform an inspection. We uncover what tenants and homeowners easily overlook. A thorough bedbug inspection will determine whether there is, in fact, an infestation — and knowing this gives you peace of mind. Even if there is bad news and an infestation is found, it can at least be resolved. Wondering if you have an infestation can have a severe psychological impact, affecting your life and the quality of your sleep. It’s not so easy to have a good night’s sleep if you are half-awake wondering if bed bugs are waiting to feed off you!
it was a good that we came. This resident had a small bed bug issue that could have easily turned into a large one if she had waited. During our inspection, we found a live bed bug underneath her couch that appeared to be looking straight at us! She had used the area under her couch to store items, which made it a great harborage area for these pests. She wanted treatment to get underway immediately, and we were able to get her an appointment that very day! When a homeowner or tenant is willing to work with us in getting the apartment prepared for treatment, we can expedite the job. The amount of preparation time varies depending on the room and its contents. proper preparation includes laundering and bagging all clothes, sheets, and bed linens, and going through whatever furnishings are nearby, such as nightstands by the bed.
For us, this was the perfect client. She was cooperative and willing to help us so that our treatment would be most effective. We are confident that she will soon have no further bed bug issues.
