Spiders Infest Warehouse & Bite Employees in Manalapan, NJ
The dreaded spider and its sticky web. Yuck! Just the thought of these “itsy bitsy” miniature monsters makes our skin crawl. It’s no wonder why spiders and spider webs are the standard Halloween insect decoration and not honey bees or stink bugs!
I was sent to one of our largest commercial accounts, a warehouse in Manalapan, NJ where the otherwise tough-as-nails manager asked me, “Could you please get all of these spiders out of our warehouse?” Spiders were crawling throughout the warehouse and, unfortunately, a few of the employees had been on the receiving end of painful spider bites.
I knew that this warehouse was dealing with a widespread spider infestation prior to my arrival, and I wanted to be ready for the task so I could resolve the infestation as quickly and efficiently as possible. Pest control technicians know a lot, but we are not walking encyclopedias of every insect that crawls on the planet and the best treatment options for them. At Cowleys, the technicians have immediate access to several experienced entomologists to help us strategize the best treatment plan. Here, I was immediately led to the right product given for the scope of this particular job. I was advised to fan spray the interior perimeter of the warehouse, giving special attention to the baseboards, entry points, and corners that spiders seek out to nest.
After applying the product, I re-inspected the perimeter and observed several dead spiders as well as a number of them that were already on their last legs (all 8 of them!). I could not have been more pleased. The liquid application was extremely successful with immediate results in substantially reducing the spider population. Spiders can be beneficial insects since they trap and kill many other nuisance pests. However, in cases like this, where a building is overrun by spiders and employees are working in fear of being bitten, something has to be done, and done fast! Needless to say, the warehouse manager and the employees were relieved that their spider problem was resolved.
