Coming Out of the Walls
As soon as we began our inspection we immediately spotted hundreds of boxelder bugs coming out of the exterior walls.
Why the Clever Name?
These beetles received their name because of their attraction to the boxelder tree! When boxelder trees are scarce, boxelder bugs have been known to occasionally feed on seed-bearing silver maples and have been observed feeding on plum and apple fruits.
Strictly a Nuisance Pest
During warmer weather, large groups of these pests will come together to congregate on the sunny side areas of a home, which is EXACTLY what they're doing here! Boxelder bugs have not been deemed a commercial pest and they are not dangerous, but they can be a huge nuisance. They can invade homes in the winter in very large numbers. If they do invade a home they can leave nasty stains on carpets when they are squashed. They also are known to release a foul smell if they feel threatened.
Boxelder Bug Treatment
We're going to inject knockdown aerosol application into every single exterior opening and gap around the property. This will quickly exterminate the boxelder bugs.
More Treatment for the Boxelder Bugs
We're also going to treat the surrounding areas with a liquid residual application. The boxelder bugs will come in contact with the liquid treatment and, in a short amount of time, they will be exterminated.
