Photo Album: Children Being Terrorized by Yellow Jackets in Middletown, NJ
Every time the children wanted to use the playground, they were getting attacked by yellow jackets.
Spotted a Few Near a Hole
When we arrived, we equipped our protective bee suits and started inspecting the playground. After a few moments, we found a hole the size of a golf ball with yellow jackets coming out of it. Turns out that the yellow jackets had made an in-ground nest right next to the swing set!
More Protection for the Yellow Jackets
Yellow jackets create in-ground nests because it offers protection against easy removal and because they are much harder to see. The only indication that yellow jackets are present, is the entering and exiting of wasps from their hole. What's worse is that any type of vibration can cause the yellow jackets to get defensive and then fly out to attack anything that they deem a threat!
Applications to Eliminate Yellow Jackets
First, we injected a knockdown liquid application directly into the nest. After a few moments went by, we also injected a knockdown dusting product.
Took Out the Nest
These treatments rapidly neutralize the yellow jackets. After a few moments, we dug up the nest, disposed of it, and filled in the burrow.
