Photo Album: Oriental Cockroaches Found Behind Restaurant in Red Bank, NJ
Behind the Restaurant
After finding a few cockroaches in the garbage room of the restaurant, we inspected the exterior of the building and discovered that the oriental cockroaches were coming from a small hole in the sewer pipe.
Nasty Pests
Also known as "waterbugs" since they are known to crawl out of drains and plumbing, oriental cockroaches are about an inch long, are all one color, and darker than other cockroaches. These roaches are known for their unpleasant stench and when inside a home, they are commonly found in basements or crawl spaces.
Treatment for Oriental Cockroaches
For treatment, we carefully disposed of all the contaminated items throughout the restaurant. Afterward, we treated all the harborage areas with an EPA registered insect growth regulator that is combined with a residual product. This treatment affects the oriental cockroaches' reproductive system and prevents them from reaching adulthood.
Last Part of the Treatment
Next, we applied a knockdown aerosol product to every single crack, crevice, appliance, and baseboard throughout the restaurant. This product flushes the cockroaches out of hiding, into the growth regulator, and rapidly exterminates them. Afterward, we went outside and repeated the treatment process along the exterior of the building where the oriental cockroaches were spotted. Lastly, we placed several monitoring devices throughout the restaurant and scheduled several follow-up visits to monitor the infestation and, if needed, apply any additional treatments.
