Photo Album: Termites Came Up Through the Slab in Skillman, NJ
Termites in the Sleeper Floor
After a thorough inspection and spotting termite damage in the living room, we discovered that the termites were coming up through a crack in the slab. The slab had a sleeper floor and the termites were damaging the hardwood flooring and the platform for the sleeper floor. You can actually see a few live subterranean termites!
Removed the Damaged Wood
Another company came in and removed a section of the damaged hardwood flooring in the living room.
Starting Our Termite Treatment
Since subterranean termites live beneath ground level, with the owners' permission, we drilled into the flooring of the living room as well as around the entire exterior perimeter of the condo.
Space the Drill Holes Apart
We made sure to space the drill holes at least 18 to 20 inches apart. That way, the treatment we're about to inject has enough room to spread out.
Termite Treatment
Next, we injected a liquid termiticide into the drill holes as well as around the entire exterior of the condo. This application binds to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that is undetectable to the termites. The termites will continue to go about their business and come in contact with the termiticide. They will then bring it back to their nest and transfer the treatment throughout their colony. Lastly, we filled in all the drill holes. In short amount of time, the termites will be exterminated and the condo will be fully protected from termites for many years.
