Photo Album: Tree Stump Harbors Carpenter Ants in Neptune, NJ
The customer thought that he had an infestation of termites, but it turned out to be carpenter ants.
Carpenter Ants Infesting the Stump
The homeowner was terrified that these flying insects were termite swarmers. After a close look at them, we quickly identified these pests as carpenter ants and their swarmers.
Difference Between Ants & Termites
A quick way to tell the difference between the two is that ant swarmers have two sets of wings that are different sizes while termite swarmers have two sets of wings that are exactly the same size.
Exterminating the Carpenter Ants
For treatment, we injected a residual dusting application into the tree stump and then applied some granular bait around this area and along the landscape. Lastly, as a precaution, we treated the entire exterior of the home with a liquid residual.
How the Treatments Work
The worker carpenter ants will come in contact with either of these treatments, bring them back to their colony, and then share them with their queen as well as the other ants in their nest. In a short amount of time, the carpenter ants will be neutralized.
