Photo Album: Raccoons & Birds Reside in the Attic in Matawan, NJ
Birds Were Here First
First, the was an infestation of birds in the attic.
Then Came the Raccoon
Then a raccoon had kicked the birds out and took up residency in the attic.
Heck of a Battle
As you can see, the birds didn't leave without a fight.
One Way
Since the raccoon and the birds had entered the home through the vents, we installed a one-way device over the main access point and temporarily enclosed it with hardware cloth. We also placed several baited devices nearby. The one-way device will allow the raccoon to safely leave the area, but prevent it from getting back in. After a short period of time, we successfully retrieved the raccoon and relocated to a new, humane location.
Clean Up
Afterward, we carefully removed all the bird nesting debris and then disinfected the entire attic.
Sealed Off
Lastly, we installed sturdy metal flashing over the main access point to prevent any future intrusions from raccoons, birds, and any other nuisance wildlife.
