Photo Album: Lots of Mice Infesting the Attic in Barnegat Light, NJ
Not Just Their Droppings
As we inspected the attic, not only did we find an abundance of mice droppings throughout the area...
This is Why
...we found multiple mice tunnels too. We also noticed that almost all the insulation was soaked with their urine. Mice will often tunnel in the insulation to create a warm nesting place. After completing our inspection of the attic, we found a few gaps around multiple wires that where leading outside. Since mice only need the width of a pencil to enter a structure, this was how the mice were infesting the home.
Needs New Insulation
Unfortunately, almost all the insulation was so badly contaminated that it must be disposed of. We told the owner who then contacted our Attic Systems Division to come out, once all the mice are gone, to remove the contaminated insulation and replace it with blown-in cellulose insulation.
In the Meantime
First, we carefully removed all the mice droppings. Next, we installed several rodent bait stations throughout the attic and along the exterior of the home. Lastly, we scheduled several follow up visits to replenish the bait in the rodent bait stations and to monitor the mice activity.
Seal Them on the Next Visit
On our next follow up visit, we will stuff all the potential openings with chew-proof, stainless steel mesh and sealed them with a waterproof, premium adhesive.
