Photo Album: Senior Citizen Plagued by Clothing Moths in Red Bank, NJ
The Flying Insects Were...
Once we inspected the unit, we found these little flying insects in the corner of the hallway. Upon closer inspection, we identified them as clothing moths.
Clothing Moths
Normally we find these moths in closet areas when the larvae attack natural fibers such as wool or cashmere sweaters. The females carefully place their eggs deep in the mesh of the infested fabric by attaching the eggs with a glue they secrete.
The Rug in the Corner
We noticed that the clothing moths were hovering around a rug that was stashed in the corner. So we investigated and found a large colony of these pests harboring in the rug!
Get it Out
At the tenant's request, we disposed of the rug and treated the entire interior of the home with a liquid residual that'll eliminate the clothing moths.
Pheromone Devices
We also set up several pheromone monitor traps and scheduled a follow-up inspection to monitor the infestation and, if needed, apply any additional treatment.
