Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets Nest Above Playground in Shrewsbury, NJ
An owner of a nursery school in Shrewsbury, NJ, called our office after one of her staff members spotted a hornets' nest above the playground.
Really Up There
When we arrived, one of the staff members directed us to the location of the nest which was about 20 feet up in a tree that was hanging over the playground.
Big Too
The nest was larger than a basketball, which means that there are hundreds of ill-tempered and dangerous bald-faced hornets inside!
Knocking Down the Hornets
We equipped our bee suit, grabbed our ladder, attached a knockdown dusting application to our extendable pole, and injected it directly into the opening of the nest. This treatment exterminates the bald-faced hornets almost immediately.
Waited and Then...
We waited several moments and then removed the nest and the branches it was attached to and properly disposed of all of them.
A look Inside
Here's a close up of the chambers and the larvae!
