Photo Album: An Invasion of Odorous House Ants in Little Silver, NJ
Ants in the Basement
While inspecting the home, I found a few ants in the kitchen, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. I continued my inspection to the basement and that's where I found the main infestation!
Odorous House Ants All Over
There where hundreds of odorous house ants trailing up and down the wall and along the floor! Odorous house ants are those tiny, fast ants that emit a rotten coconut smell when you crush or startle them.
Wrapped Up
The majority of the ants were going into a stack of ceramic tiles wrapped in plastic. At the owners' request, I disposed of them.
For a Quick Elimination
I treated both the kitchen baseboards and the ants trailing in the basement with a non-repellent residual aerosol for a quick elimination and to flush them out of any harborage areas.
Treating the Exterior and Interior
Next, I treated outside under the siding where the ants were entering the structure, the cracks, crevices, and baseboards in the basement, and the entire perimeter of the home with a non-repellant residual.
Sharing is Caring
The odorous house ants are going to come in contact with the non-repellant and bring it back to their nest where they will unknowingly transfer the treatment to one another. Shortly after, the ants are exterminated. I scheduled several follow up visits to monitor the infestation and, if needed, apply any additional treatments.
