Photo Album: Dining with Odorous House Ants in Jackson, NJ
While servicing the home of one of our Home Protection Plan clients in Jackson, NJ, I found odorous house ants in the dining room.
From the Outside
I followed their trail from the dining room to the outside of the home and found them trailing from the ground, up the foundation, and under the siding near the dining room on the exterior.
More About Odorous House Ants
Odorous house ants have dark brown or black bodies with one node on their petiole, which is hidden by their abdomens. They emit a rotten coconut smell then they're crushed or startled (hence their funny name).
The Treatments
I treated the baseboards, cracks, and crevices on the interior as well as the exterior foundation, under siding, and window sills with a non-repellent liquid residual. I then interrupted the trail of ants and applied an ant gel bait.
They Love It
Once the odorous house ants come in contact with either of these treatments, they'll bring them back to their colony and share the treatments with one another. Shortly after, they are eliminated.
