Photo Album: How to Transform a Dirty Crawl Space Into Clean One in Manasquan, NJ
This is how you turn a dirt floor crawl space filled with moisture and debris into a dry, healthy crawl space.
Removing All the Debris
First, we need to remove all of the debris out of the crawl space.
Level the Playing Field
After removing the debris, we leveled the crawl space and installed a dimpled drainage matting, which allows all excess moisture to work its way over to the new sump pump we installed.
Now for the Vapor Barrier
Next, we installed a vapor barrier which is a 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with a polyester-cord reinforcement.
What the Vapor Barrier Does
The vapor barrier is designed to permanently prevent moisture, outside air, mold, and pests from getting into the crawl space. The vapor barrier is installed over the foundation walls and floor to create a continuous air and moisture barrier.
The End Result
Now the homeowner has a crawl space that will not have any issues with high humidity levels, mold, or mildew growth, and will create a healthy environment for the family.
