Photo Album: Homeowner in East Brunswick, NJ Spots a Raccoon Entering His Attic
As this homeowner in East Brunswick, NJ was taking out the garbage one evening, he heard a noise on his roof. When he looked up, he saw a raccoon tearing apart his gable vent!
No Problem for Raccoons
Raccoons have razor-sharp claws which makes it very easy for them to rip apart the plastic material that many gable vents are made out of and gain access into your home.
Set-Up Our One-Way
To successfully and safely retrieve the raccoon, we placed a one-way over the access point and enclosed it in with hardware cloth. A one-way device allows the raccoon to safely exit the access point, but prevent it from getting back in.
Raccoon Retrieved
We also placed several baited traps nearby. A short while later, we successfully retrieved the raccoon and relocated it to a new, humane location.
Repairing the Raccoon Damage
After disinfecting the attic, we removed the old gable vent and replaced it with a new, sturdy one.
Raccoon Exclusion
Now the new, sturdy gable vent will exclude all nuisance wildlife and nuisance birds from gaining access into the home.
