Photo Album: This Old House is Loaded with Mice in Brielle, NJ
After purchasing his dream home, this new homeowner in Brielle, NJ was concerned that he might have a mice issue.
Mice Tunnels in the Insulation
The homeowner mentioned hearing noises in his attic. I took a look and found mice tunnels in the insulation as well as mouse droppings in the attic, confirming that there were indeed mice in the home.
In the Garage
Continuing my inspection, I found several access points in the garage and the crawl space.
Too Small? Not for a Mouse!
I showed the homeowner and informed him that, even though these access points seem small, it's the perfect size for mice!
The Width of a Pencil
Mice only need an opening the width of a pencil to invade a home. So all these gaps in the baseboards are potential access points!
Sealed and Stuffed
I stuffed stainless steel mesh into each potential opening throughout the garage and the crawl space and sealed them with a waterproof adhesive.
Rodent Bait Stations
I then installed several rodent bait stations throughout the garage, crawl space, attic, and around the exterior of the home. I scheduled several follow-up visits to change the bait and monitor the infestation.
