Photo Album: Mulch Beds Attract Odorous House Ants in Atlantic Highlands, NJ
This homeowner in Atlantic Highlands, NJ was having a reoccurring problem with odorous house ants infesting her home. Tired of dealing with the problem on her own, she called Cowleys and I was sent out to eradicate these troublesome pests.
Under the Mulch Bed
The homeowner had mulch beds in front of their house and underneath them were roofing shingles. I peeled them back and found a large nest of odorous house ants.
The Wood Piles
Continuing my inspection, I found a pile of lumber next to the side of the house that was filled with odorous house ants.
More Inside
I then inspected the inside and, you guessed it, found more odorous house ants along the sliding glass door...
Ants in the Baseboards
And along the baseboards as well.
Cowleys Ant Treatment Part One
I treated into the wall voids inside the home with an aerosol flusher. This application will flush the odorous house ants out of hiding and neutralize them almost immediately.
Ant Treatment Part Two
I then treated the interior and exterior perimeter of the home with a non-repellent, residual liquid.
Ant Treatment Part Three
I then injected a dusting application into all the exterior cracks and crevices. Once the ants come in contact with both the liquid and dusting applications, they'll transfer them throughout their entire nest. In a short amount of time, they are eliminated.
Parting Words
I informed the homeowner that those roofing shingles under the mulch and the lumber pile next to the house should be removed. This creates extra moisture that the ants thrive on.
