Photo Album: Giving Seagulls a Shocking Treatment in Long Beach Island, NJ
This homeowner in Long Beach Island, NJ had enough of seagulls roosting and defecating all over his roof, so he called Cowleys and we came up with the solution to his seagull problem.
Roosting on the Roof
We found nesting debris and bird feces in multiple areas on the roof.
Handle with Care
We carefully removed the nesting debris and disinfected the areas.
The Solution is Shocking
In order to prevent the seagulls from roosting on the roof, we installed over 280 feet of Shock track.
Fear and Flight
Shock track is a solar-powered, low-profile ledge deterrent system that is effective against all species of nuisance birds and utilizes the principle of fear and flight.
Installed on the Ledges and Roofline
The unique electrically charged tracks impart a mild electrical shock when birds land on them. The shock will not harm the seagulls but will condition them to avoid the area.
The Eagle Eye
We also installed an Eagle Eye bird deterrent onto a cinder block, secured it in place with concrete screws, and secured the cinder block onto the roof with a sealant. The light spectrum reflected back by the Eagle Eye disorient birds in flight by limiting their vision significantly. This causes the bird to deviate in flight and fly to another destination.
