Photo Album: Pavement Ants Go Round and Round in Freehold, NJ
I responded to a service call for one of our Home Protection Plan customers in Freehold, NJ who was having an ant issue.
Underneath the Siding
I began inspecting and found pavement ants trailing all the way around the foundation of the house. Pavement ants received their name from primarily nesting under cracks of pavement.
Several Other Trails
I also noticed several other trails and followed them all the way to the back of the house and found a large pavement ant nest hidden in a bunch of wet leaves piled against the foundation.
Bait 'Em and Spray 'Em
I treated the entire foundation, around the windows, and under the siding of the residence with a liquid residual and applied a granular bait to the main nest and the landscape areas. With the owners permission, I went inside and treated the interior with the liquid residual.
Effective Extermination
The pavement ants aren't immediately eliminated when they come in contact with either of these treatments. What happens is they'll carry them back to their colony and share them through feeding, grooming, and eating their dead. The treatments rapidly spread throughout the nest, and a short while later, the pavement ants are exterminated.
