Photo Album: Log Cabin Becomes Carpenter Bee Heaven in Ocean Township, NJ
When this homeowner in Ocean Township, NJ went outside, she noticed several drill size holes all along the right side of the house. She knew that this was not normal and called Cowleys services to get a professional opinion.
Drill Holes in the Sun
When I arrived I began my inspection and noticed these drill holes all in the wood along the side of the home. This particular side of the home encountered the most sunlight, so it's only fitting that the carpenter bees would be boring holes there.
Log Cabin in Danger
Carpenter bees can cause structural damage over time if left untreated, especially if they repeatedly bore holes for nesting throughout the property (which is exactly what they did here).
Most Effective Treatment
I treated all of the carpenter bee holes with a non-repellent product that the carpenter bees will come in contact with when they return to their galleries.
A Matter of Time
In a short amount of time, all of the carpenter bees will be eliminated and the client can go about patching the holes.
Wood Destroying Carpenter Bees
Carpenter bees are always looking to bore into the wood on the sunniest area of the house to create galleries (nests). You can always tell you have carpenter bees by the yellow staining (which is a combination of feces and pollen) directly underneath the drill holes.
