Ants Along the Exterior
I began my inspection and immediately found pavement ants along the right side of the exterior of the home.
All About Pavement Ants
Pavement ants primarily nest in pavement (hence their name) and are about 1/8 of an inch in size.
But Wait, There's More
I inspected the front porch and found a trail of odorous house ants leading up to the front door. I inspected and found a nest of them inside the door jam.
The 411 on Odorous House Ants
Odorous house ants are tiny, fast ants that emit a rotten coconut smell when crushed.
Treatment Works for Both
I applied a non-repellant residual along the entire exterior of the home, the door jam, and, with the owners permission, the foyer and two adjacent rooms. Afterward, I applied a granular bait along the landscape and mulch beds along the exterior of the property.
They Do it To Themselves
Both species of ants will come in contact with either of these treatments, bring it back to their nest, and share it with one another, rapidly spreading the treatments throughout the colony. In no time at all, both species of ants will be eliminated.
