Photo Album: New Home Riddled with Pavement Ants in Freehold, NJ
Along the Walkway
When we arrived the homeowner led us to where she saw the ants. As I inspected, I identified them as pavement ants and noticed they were trailing down her walkway from a nearby bush.
What are Pavement Ants
Pavement ants primarily nest in cracks of pavement (hence their name). They are distinguished by two spines on the back, two nodes on the petiole, and grooves on the head and thorax. During the warmer months, they are highly aggressive against other ants.
How to Get Ride of Them
The ants, fortunately, didn't infest the house yet, so we applied a liquid residual along the walkway, directly onto their trail, and along the nearby bush.
Transfer Effect
This product doesn't immediately exterminate the pavement ants. It actually keeps them alive long enough to carry the product back to the nest where they will transfer it amongst the colony. Ants groom, feed, and even eat their dead. When this happens they are transferring the product from one ant to another. This will continue until all of the ants in the colony are eliminated.
